Wearable devices help spot Covid ‘long haulers’

In 10 seconds? We now know that Covid-19 can result in at least 55 long-term health effects. But how can doctors tell, who is suffering from ‘long Covid’? A research team has used wearable devices to track one strong indicator – lasting elevated heart rate.

What is it about increased heart rate? As the indicators of ‘long Covid’ are still to be clearly defined, researchers are looking for markers to help distinguish people who will recover fully from those who are referred to as ‘long haulers’. According to a new study, elevated heart rates over a longer period can help to tell the difference.
